Indian School Salalah organized Valedictory Ceremony for its outgoing batch of class XII in a phenomenal and magnificent ambience on Friday evening, the 2 February 2024 in the school premises. It was a very special day for the students of class XII, as they tearfully parted with their beloved Alma Mater.

The function was graced by Dr. Abubacker Siddique, President, School Management Committee, esteemed members of SMC, distinguished guests, Principal, Mr. Deepak Patankar, Vice Principal, Asst.Vice Principals, HODs, teachers, parents and of course, the adorable valedictorians.

Mrs. Maya Nobin, Class Coordinator of Grade XII, in her introductory note, expressed her heartfelt feelings on the valedictory moment of conflicting emotions of thankfulness and joy mingled with a pinch of sadness.  To commence the auspicious Ceremony, the students with the Principal, President and esteemed members of SMC, Admins clad in the ceremonial graduation gowns as well as the class teachers of the five sections of Grade XII marched to the seats assigned to them. The function started off with the soulful prayer to thank the Almighty and seek blessings for a bright, happy and successful life for the outgoing batches followed by the lighting of the lamp ceremony as a symbol of gratitude for the abundance that the divine has bestowed. Mr. Mukesh Mohan (Faculty, Commerce Dept.) extended a warm welcome to the august gathering.  

Addressing the audience on the occasion, Mr. Deepak Patankar, the Principal advised the young graduating students to focus on their studies and not to give up. He assured that all the teachers are always ready to provide their support to the students. He further mentioned the contribution of the school Management Committee for the development of infrastructure and other areas of school growth. Showering his blessings on the students to be victorious in their life, he wished them good luck for the forthcoming board examinations.

Dr. Abubacker Siddique, the President of the School Management Committee, in his heartwarming speech, affirmed that the students are stepping into a new chapter of life with the blessings and memories of their Alma Mater. He urged the students not to forget that they are embarking on their new journey as their potential has no bounds and encouraged them to embrace challenges with courage. He appreciated the Principal, Admin team and teachers for their unwavering efforts in helping the students to achieve excellent success.

As the students sought the blessings of their school, they were presented mementoes and printed citations by Dr. Abubacker Siddique, the President of the school management committee, other esteemed members of SMC along with the Principal, admins and class teachers to make this event memorable. It was a moment of pride and joy as the graduates walked across the stage, marking the culmination of their academic journey.

In his address, Dr. Muhammed Yousuf Ismail, Chairman, Academic Sub-committee, SMC reminded the students that they are the future of their nation and everybody to  have immense hope and belief in their capabilities to be successful. He motivated the students to stay connected with the school in future too. Acknowledging the importance of teachers in the student’ life, he quoted Alexander the great, “I am indebted to my father for living, but to my teacher for living well.”

On  this momentous occasion, the academic toppers of all the three streams, Ms Sadiya Khatoon (Science stream), Mast. Rishi Arun Shukla (Commerce Stream) and Ms Salabha (Humanities Stream) shared some interesting anecdotes and memorable moments from their time here at ISS. They also reminisced about their journey and their transformation from shy diffident kids to confident person ready to take on the world.

The Head Boy, an elegant orator, Master Mohnish Kumar Hemnani and the Head Girl, Miss Sanchita Anil Agte eloquently expressed their indebtedness towards the institution for helping them evolve in totality. They were both optimistic as they would soon step a new world altogether and sad as well to leave their school where they have spent their formative years.

The musical performance of Mr. Hareesh K P, Faculty, Dept. of Social Science was captivating. The melodious ‘Motivational song’ by Music Dept with teachers added vibrancy and entertainment to the ceremony, reflecting the enthusiasm of the teachers.

At the end of the function, President and esteemed members of SMC, Principal, Admins and all the subject teachers along with the class teacher joined the valedictorians for the class photographs. The significant event was compered by Mrs. Maya Nobin, Class Coordinator of Grade XII along with class XII Class teachers. The ceremony came to its conclusion with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Anto Lalu, HOD, Commerce Dept. The programme ended with a delectable dinner and a time of fellowship.

The Valedictory function of course endeavored to leave a trail of nostalgia behind. It will remain a cherished milestone in students’ life.
