India is a secular country with a diverse culture and heritage. To solidify the bond of unity and national integration, India celebrates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Home Minister of India, as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on October 31st  every year. To mark the significance of the day, Indian School Salalah organized various activities on October 31st  2023. The objective was to inculcate values integrated with knowledge and reverence for the country's rich heritage in the young generation.

Various activities were organized throughout the day to promote unity and celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in school. Special morning assemblies were held in the various sections of the school.

Students from grades 3 and 4 held their assembly in the school auditorium. Students were dressed in their traditional attire to symbolize the unity in diversity of Indian School Salalah, a unique institution in the Sultanate of Oman comprising students from various nationalities from around the world and multilingual students from across India. The assembly commenced with a prayer seeking the blessings of the Almighty, followed by a mime on festivals, thought for the day, and a speech in English. The choir presented a melodious song titled "We Are Unity." The assembly concluded with positive affirmations on unity. Students from grades 3 and 4 created magic with thumbprint paintings on the symbol of unity cutouts. They thoroughly enjoyed the activity, which reminded them of the power of India's greatest strength: unity in diversity.

Dressed in their traditional attire, students from grades 1 and 2 celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in the KG Block with great pride. The day began with a morning assembly. In the classrooms, children wrote their names and a unity quote on paper and created a beautiful chain using coloured paper. While they were engaged in the activity, meaningful stories about unity were played on the projector.

The tiny tots of the Kindergarten Section too, celebrated the auspicious day with great enthusiasm. A special assembly was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, during which the enthusiastic learners participated in varied activities that exemplified the spirit of togetherness and unity. They were engaged in collaborative group activities like balloon printing and fingerprinting in the classrooms.

The Sociology students of grades 11 and 12 created posters on the theme for the year, "Run for Unity." The posters were displayed in the quadrangle for the perusal of the staff and students.

The Principal expressed his appreciation for the hard work of the students and teachers. He exhorted the children to propagate the message of unity and uphold the virtue of oneness.

Overall, it was a great day to exhibit and affirm the unity of  India. This auspicious occasion provided the students, beaming with enthusiasm, a great opportunity to establish and uphold the bond of oneness and togetherness firmly.
