WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY

News

Indian School Salalah observed ‘World No Tobacco Day’ on 31st May 2023 to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco and its effects on public health. The Theme of 2023 ‘World no tobacco day’ is “We need food, not tobacco”, intended to get tobacco producers to adopt sustainable and nutritious crops.

A special programme was organised by the Social Science department of Indian School Salalah in the school auditorium. Programme started with a ‘No tobacco campaign’ in the campus. Posters were displayed in the quadrangle and students of class VII conducted a rally with placards. The programme commenced with an impressive speech on ‘World No Tobacco Day’ by Miss Yazhini Panbu Premkumar of Class VIII A

 An informative PPT presented by Master Sayed Shameem of Class VIII H on Tobacco: ‘Poison for our planet’ showed the harmful effects of Tobacco consumption on our health and environment.  A skit depicting the harmful effects of Tobacco consumption on the life of our dear ones was appreciated by one and all. The programme continued with the students taking a pledge led by Master. Sayed Shameem of VIII H.

Principal, Mr..Deepak Patankar addressed the gathering and appreciated the students and teachers for the efforts taken to put up such a wonderful programme to mark the significance of the day. He spoke about the necessity to avoid tobacco consumption.  He advised the students to be vigilant and to educate their elders to stay away from smoking. By working together to educate others and being advocates for change, we can make progress towards a healthier, tobacco-free future for all. 

The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by Miss. Yazhini Panbu Premkumar of Class VIII A.
