STUDENT PREFECTORIAL BODY SWORN IN AT INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH

“A leader is the one who knows the way, shows the way and leads the way”. To instill the leadership traits among the students the school every year delegates a student body with responsibilities. Investiture Ceremony for the academic year 2018-19, one of the most significant events was held on April 26th 2018 in the school premises.
The ceremony was presided over by the Chief Guest, Mr. Said Ali Almahri, General Director, Assistant – Ministry of Manpower -Oman and the Guest of Honor, Mr. Mohammed Almoor Al Abri, Assistant Manager, Ministry of Manpower – Oman. Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya, President-SMC and other esteemed members of SMC graced the occasion with their benevolent presence. The Ceremony commenced with presentation of a bouquet to the Chief Guest, Mr. Said Ali Almahri, and the Guest of Honor, Mr. Mohammed Almoor Al Abri and the President of SMC, Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya.
Master Aryan Debashish Bhattacharya, newly appointed Deputy Head boy of the School welcomed the gathering that included the Chief Guest, Mr. Said Ali Almahri, the Guest of Honor, Mr. Mohammed Almoor Al Abri, Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya, President-SMC, other esteemed members of SMC, Principal Mr. T.R. Brown, Vice Principal Dr. Srinivasan, Assistant Vice Principals Mr. C.T Ramasamy and Mrs. Ananthalakshmi, Heads of the depts, in-charges, parents of the newly elected students council, teachers and students.
After the welcome address, Principal Mr. T.R.Brown handed over the school flag to the newly appointed Head boy Mast. Saurabh Singh and Head Girl Miss. Maria Beryl Jobis, as mark of giving them charge over the new Prefectorial Body. The four house masters and house mistress then handed over the house flags and placards to the house boy captains and house girl captains respectively during the solemn ceremony. 
Following the rich tradition of the Indian School Salalah, the Chief Guest, Mr. Said Ali Almahri, General Director, Assistant – Ministry of Manpower -Oman and the Guest of Honor, Mr. Mohammed Almoor Al Abri, Assistant Manager, Ministry of Manpower – Oman, Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya, President-SMC and other esteemed members of the school management committee-Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil (Vice President of SMC), Mr. Jonanthan Solomon, Dr. Aboobucker Siddique and Mr. Maninivannan (Members, SMC) bestowed the badges to the school office bearers and the other house office bearers in a very ceremonial manner. 
Mr. T. R Brown, Principal, administered the oath in which the Council vowed to abide by the creed of their Alma Mater and accomplish their duties according to their portfolio to the best of their abilities. The beautiful rendition of the song “congratulations”, by the school choir was justly inspiring and befitting the juncture which filled the air with the echoes of happiness, satisfaction and responsibility.
In his speech, Mast. Saurabh Singh articulated his gratefulness and while accepting his responsibility as the Head Boy of the school he said, “I am here, in front of you, feeling humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve this great institution”. While understanding the gravity of his role he said, “A great leader is not someone who never makes mistakes, but someone who is willing to take chances and do what is right, regardless of the outcome”. Miss. Maria Beryl, the School Head Girl, in her speech expressed her appreciation saying how the school has shaped her into what she is today. She promised the school saying, “Now the time has come to give back what this reputed institution has endowed me with, I vow to do the best and to lead by example and serve with dedication”.
The most noteworthy and zenith of the event was the address by Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya, President-SMC who in his address congratulated the newly appointed office bearers and wished them all the very best. While emphasizing the importance of the responsibilities, he said, “Let your action speak more than words”. While talking about leadership he said, “Leadership does not come free, leadership does not come easy, leadership comes at a very heavy price”.  
As a token of love , a memento was presented to the Chief Guest, Mr. Said Ali Almahri, General Director, Assistant – Ministry of Manpower -Oman and the Guest of Honor, Mr. Mohammed Almoor Al Abri, Assistant Manager, Ministry of Manpower – Oman by Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya, President-SMC and Mr. T. R Brown, Principal. 
 The newly inducted Deputy Head Girl Miss. Elsa Mariam Eldhose proposed the Vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
