INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH CELEBRATES CHILDREN’S DAY WITH GREAT SPIRIT AND ENTHUSIASM

Children’s day was celebrated on 14 November 2017 in Indian school Salalah with great fervor and gaiety to commemorate the birthday of the first prime minister of India  Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Principal Mr. T.R.Brown, Vice Principal Mrs. Omana Mathews, Assistant Vice Principal ( Administration) Mr. S.Srinivasan,  Assistant Vice Principal (Academics) Mr. C.T.Ramasamy, , Middle school Incharge Mr. Samuel John and Mrs. Reenu Davis, Primary Incharge graced the occasion.

The  kinder garten block was buzzing with excitement  as the  teachers were as excited as the students themselves  to make this day a ever beautiful and memorable one for the little angels. The stage was all set to receive the teachers who were untiringly and competitively prepared to make this endeavor a success.

The day began with a prayer song sung by the teachers’ choir group.  Ms. Anjali Vijaykumar welcomed the gathering. The Micky Minnie duo and their team along with the Laurel and Hardy duo and the Donald Duck and the Duckling team enthralled the audience with their antics and wonderful sense of humour. Hindi action song on one of the characters from Mahabharata presented by the Hindi department was a wonderful start of a series of mind blowing performances by the teachers. The animated expressions of the teachers were well appreciated and enjoyed by the audience. This was followed by a group song by the teachers of classes 1&2.

The dwarf dance performed by the kindergarten teachers received a loud applause.   The perfect synchronization of the hand movements proved again that practice makes perfect. The melodious singing by the Class 3&4 teachers was very welcoming and a feast to the ears. The kindergarten teachers again took the audience by surprise when they came up on the stage to perform a clown dance. The beat and rhythm of the song had the audience to dancing along with the teachers. The colourful Rajasthani dance with the perfect Rajasthani costume was the icing on the cake as the teachers of classes 1 and 2 danced to the feet tapping rhythm of the folk song was a real attraction of the day as the children cheered loud and also tried to join in the grove along with the performers.

 Their joy knew no bounds to see the array of programmes organized by their beloved teachers the amusement was clear on their faces as they watched their teachers take up their place on the stage to dance, sing and act as they always do. The primary teacher, Ms.Doris in her children’s day message advised children “To grow up to be ideal citizens and work for the betterment of the nation and the world with humility and honesty.”

In the programme organized by the middle school, Ms. Valencia from Class 5 B welcomed the audience with great pleasure and enthusiasm. The programme commenced with the melodious prayer song by the school choir and invoked the blessings of the Almighty. A skit titled ‘Chacha Nehru- Children’s favourite leader’ participated by  more than 20 budding actors portrayed different anecdotes from the  life of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The choir students of Class 5 enthralled the audience through a harmonious song. This amazing performance was followed by an inspiring speech by Ms. Mithra Nivetha from class 5 A which was followed by the  scintillating dance  performance by the graceful dancers of class 5. Smart board presentation on Nehru and his life gave an insight  to the audience  about Jawaharlal Nehru and his life history.

Dr. Debashish Bhattacharya, President of the school management committee conveyed his best wishes to the children on this wonderful day and expressed his heartfelt wishes to the teachers  of KG, Primary and middle section for their magnificent effort. Vice Principal Mrs.Omana Mathews in her address, advised the  children to be happy and enjoy their precious childhood by finding the right balance between work and play. Principal Mr. T.R.Brown, in his speech expressed that children are the most beautiful creations of the earth and emphasized on the importance of spreading happiness around them. He also wished all the children on their special day and also expressed his love for them. He also appreciated the efforts of the teachers of KG, Primary and middle level to make the special day of the children a memorable one.

The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Hema Jayadharan and Shamlal from class 5 F. The day ended with the contentment as the success of the day was seen on every individual’s face. The excitement, happiness and love was spread all over in the kindergarten as the teachers and the students went back to their classes with lovely memories of the day.
