Indian School Salalah conducted Annual Sports meet for the primary section

 

The Primary Section of Indian School Salalah held its Annual Sports meet at the lush green grounds of the school on 27th October 2017- A day to glorify sports and sportsmanship. The lush green carpet of Indian School Salalah, welcomed the rising sports stars to the Primary Section Annual Sports meet with warmth.

The enthusiastic little angels of the primary section lined up holding blue pompoms, welcome placards and million dollar smiles along with the school band welcomed the Chief Guest H. E. Abdullah Aqeel Al Ibrahim the Deputy Governor of Dhofar region for the evening. The Chief Guest was received by Dr. Debashish C. Bhattacharya, President, School Management Committee, other esteemed members of the School Management Committee, Principal Mr. T. R. Brown. The Chief Guest was escorted to the arena as the school band played the welcome note. The prefectorial body of class 1-4 led by Primary Captains Mast. Ethan Carneiro and Miss Tridha Jagannathan along with the junior captains pinned the badges to the esteemed guests. They also presented the bouquets and welcome cards to the chief guest and the special invitees. 

The evening started with the melodious rendition of the welcome song, “aayehain hum swagatkarne” by the choir which enthralled the gathering. The welcome address was delivered by MsMeghna , Mast Siddarth , Ms.Kruti  and Mast. Aditya   in English and Hindi.

The exuberant students of class three perfectly marched to the rhythm of the drum beats. It was indeed a sight to behold to see the little ones match their steps in unison and togetherness. The March past was led by the Junior School Boy Captain Mast. Ethan Carneiro carrying the school flag and the Junior School Girl Captain Miss. Tridha Jagannathan carrying the school placard followed by the four houses; the charismatic blue house was led by Mast Surya Dev and Miss Zaina Fathima, followed by smart green house led by Mast. Omar and Miss BhagwathPriya. Then followed the fiery red led by Mast Aryan and Miss. Vaidehi and finally the warm yellow house led by Mast. Harsh and Miss. Moulima.

 

This was followed by the Oath taking ceremony. The oath was administered by the Primary Boy captain Mast. Ethan Carneiro with the students solemnly pledging to maintain the spirit of true sportsmanship. The Chief Guest H. E. Abdullah Aqeel Al Ibrahim was accompanied by the President of SMC, Dr. Debashish C. Bhattacharya, and Principal Mr. T.R.Brown to the dais to declare the Sports Meet Open. The Annual Sports Meet of the Primary section 2017-18 was declared open by the Chief Guest  H. E. Abdullah Aqeel Al Ibrahim, the Deputy Governor of the Dhofar region.

The President of the School Management Committee Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya, addressed the gathering. He began his address by thanking His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said for his benevolence and for bestowing the plot of land to build this prestigious institution called Indian School Salalah. In his address he applauded the magnanimous presence of H. E. Abdullah Aqeel Al Ibrahim, the Deputy Governor of the Dhofar region and thanked his benevolent presence for gracing the occasion and showering his blessings on the lovely and adorable children of Indian School Salalah. He encouraged the students saying that every child who has come on the ground is a winner.. He also highlighted the contribution of Mr. Naser Ahmed Basra, one of the generous benefactors who played a major role in the face-lifting of the school playground. He further announced that the school takes care of the proper diet and provide it to those players and athletes who prepare themselves for various sports for inter school events in school.

The day witnessed nail biting competitions and exciting victories. The highlights of the evening were 80 m Dash for boys and girls of class 4, Dumbbell Collection for boys and girls of class 3, Ball Collection for boys and girls of class 1 and finally the Obstacle Race for boys and girls of class 2 As the athletes reached the finishing point, one could witness the cheers of applauds from their adorable parents.

The Trophies for the individual champions in various categories were given away by the Chief Guest H.E. Abdullah Aqeel Al Ibrahim .The following are the individual champions:  Class I Girl Champion is Miss Rose Mariya Roy and Boy Champion is Mast. Praveen Kumar VinzuKumaresh,, Class II Girl Champion is Miss NimaAishal C. K. and Boy Champion is Mast. Amar Ahmed Taha Mohamed, Class III Girl Champion is Miss Angel Mary Binci and Boy Champion is Mast. ShaheenShajid, Class IV Girl Champions are Miss ManasaManojSalini and JumanaThasnim and Boy Champion is Mast. Salman Gulyamoy.

Finally the Championship Trophies were awarded by the Chief guest H.E. Abdullah Aqeel Al Ibrahim. The Blue House of the primary section clinched the championship with 52 points and the Green House bagged the runners up position securing 43 points.

Dr. Debashish C Bhattacharya, President SMC, Dr. Biju T. Sayed Mohammed Vice President SMC, and Chairman Sports subcommittee, Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil Convenor, SMC, Engr.JonathanSolomon member SMC, gave away the prizes to the proud and jubilant winners. They walked away with medals and triumphant smiles as it wasn’t less than an Olympic medal to them.


The Chief Guest H. E. Abdullah Aqeel Al Ibrahim was presented with a memento by the President of the School Management Committee Dr. Debashish C. Bhattacharya, Dr. Biju T. Sayed Mohammed Vice President SMC, and Chairman Sports subcommittee, and Principal Mr. T. R. Brown.

 

The destiny of hardwork is always success and each one at Indian School Salalah had worked hard to make the day a very special and memorable one. On this happy note the choir rendered a foot tapping Congratulation song. Miss Anaha and Ms. Kavya proposed the vote of thanks and thus the primary section annual sports meet concluded.
