INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH CELEBRATES TEACHERS’ DAY-2019

The students of KG to XII of Indian School Salalah celebrated Teachers’ Day with great zeal and enthusiasm to extol their gratitude, appreciation, love and respect for their teachers on September 5, 2019. The celebrations transpired at various venues full of students and teachers amidst the gracious presence of their Principal Mr. Deepak Patankar, Dr. S. Srinivasan (Vice-principal) and Mrs. P V Ananthalashmi (AVP-middle section), HODs and In-charges. The occasion was dedicated to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan a staunch believer of education, well-known diplomat, scholar, the former President of India and above all, a teacher. The day is marked as Teachers’ day to recognise the contribution of teachers to the society.

The celebrations at senior secondary section commenced with welcome address by Mast. Aibhinav Upadhyay of XII-B in the school auditorium. He, on behalf of ISS students, expressed his gratitude to all the teachers for their devotion and selfless services. The power packed performance of senior boys in ‘Rock Band’ spellbound everyone with their magical voice and their deftness in musical instruments. Fusion dances by senior boys and girls added special charm and beauty to the occasion. Fun-filled Teachers’ day special quiz - Guess Who - was all the more thrilling and got students excited to know about their teachers. The video presentation by students with the alumni highlighted the impact of school and teachers throughout their lives and the presentation was indeed a befitting tribute to their teachers. The best part of the day was definitely the ‘Flash Mob’ where senior girls surprised their teachers during recess with a synchronized dance number; it was a way to express their indebtedness to them. 

Students of secondary section had their celebrations at the newly constructed stage of KG Block. It began with the speech on ‘The Importance of Teachers’ Day’ by Miss Madiha of class IX. Girls of class IX presented a scintillating dance performance which was followed by a melodious song by Master Naseeb Nazeer of class X. Dance by Master Denny Devy and friends were simply stunning; The touching rendition of song, ‘teacher ko pyar …’ by students of grade IX to honour their teachers on the occasion radiated warmth and affection. Girls of class X too grabbed the audience with their vibrant fusion dance which was followed by yet another speech by Master Samved Shaji, class IX. The programme concluded with the rhythmic beat of orchestra by Master Ben Moses and team.

The programme of middle school (classes V-VIII) commenced with a speech by Miss Rachel of class VI. In her speech she reminded that teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, calibre and future of a student.  Miss Vareesha Javed of class VI recited a wonderful poem in Hindi which highlighted the importance of a teacher in one’s life. Then the choir students mesmerized the audience through a harmonious song. A thought provoking skit by the students gave a clear message to the audience on how a teacher reaches out to each and every child to pull them out of darkness and guide them into the light of success. Students came up with placards, elaborating and describing the word ‘TEACHER’. Next the students dressed up as teachers administered the pledge of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam emphasizing on the responsibilities of a teacher. Then the scintillating dance performance enthralled the audience. The students presented beautiful Teachers’day cards to all the teachers made by the students themselves. The celebration concluded with the thought for the day “One book, one pen, one child and one teacher can change the world” delivered by Miss Feba Seju.

In the upper primary, Miss. Yazhini Prem Kumar of class IV-F, Miss. Esther Kunnel Varughese of class IV-I and Miss. Bibina Biju of Class IV-I, extended a cordial welcome to the august gathering. Mast. Adnan Jafarudeen of Class IV-C then spoke on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. He brought out the importance of being a teacher and how much the children appreciate their teachers.  It was followed by a group song “You are the best…” which echoed the auditorium and made the environment energetic. Next was a splendid group dance by boys of Class IV. The synchronized dance movements to the foot tapping music enthralled the audience.  Miss. Wafa Sadique of Class IV-B, stole the hearts of the audience with her melodious Malayalam song. The dazzling group dances by the girls of Class IV were performed with great exuberance, unmatched zeal and rhythm. The Teachers’ Day Song “Mere teacher……” by the choir team of Classes III and IV. It was yet another beautiful song. The programme was an amalgamation of various hues and the students spread the colours of love and happiness. Miss. Hanna Elsa Alex and Miss. Hamna Nishtar of Class IV-G proposed the Vote of Thanks.

In the KG and lower primary, the programme began with the prayer song followed by an endearing group dance by the tiny tots of LKG students. A few students from kindergarten and class II spoke on the importance of the day. Next was the fabulous western dance performance by the sweet special need children. The tiny tots of LKG touched the hearts of the teachers with their ‘thank you’ message followed by an awesome western dance by UKG children. Later the UKG and classes I & II children came up on the stage to render a melodious song to express their gratitude. To conclude, the students of classes I & II performed a feet tapping number which stole the hearts of all.

Appreciating students, the Principal, Mr. Deepak Patankar said that he was speechless for the way they all stood together up to celebrate the occasion. He while speaking to them cherished his school days to emphasize the role of teachers in one’s life.  The Principal then applauded his team of teachers for their dedication and for preparing students for 21st century through quality education, sports and CCA. Dr. S. Srinivasan, Vice-principal too made commendable remark on students’ efforts for staging a wonderful show on the day, especially the video presentation and teachers’ day special quiz on teachers. He, asking students to keep memories of their school and to cherish them lifelong, urged them for their invaluable contribution to the school once they go out to become someone in life. Ms. Anita Rose, Primary Incharge in her address congratulated all the participants who left no stone unturned to make the programme a grand success.

The celebration came to its end with vote of thanks proposed by Miss Zamzam Arshed Rana of class 12-A.
