TEACHERS FROM INDIAN SCHOOL SALALAH  ATTENDED  CBSE  CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME CONDUCTED BY CBSE

The Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman conducted a two day capacity building programme with CBSE on 30& 31st August 2019 in various venues of Indian Schools in Muscat and other Indian schools in the capital city. A large number of teachers and Principals from various Indian schools in Oman actively attended the programme.28 teachers from Indian School Salalah took part in the two day capacity  building programme. The Five venues were Indian School Muscat- New Multipurpose Hall, Indian School Muscat-Old Multipurpose hall, Indian School Al Ghubra, Indian School WadiKabir and Indian School Darsait.  The entire programme was live streamed in the 21 Indian Schools in Oman.

The main objective of the programme is to empower the teachers and enhance their knowledge and skills.  The inaugural ceremony of the two day capacity building programme  was held on 30 th August 2019 in Indian School Muscat. The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony was Dr. Biswajeet Saha, Director , Training, CBSE Skills and training. Dr.Baby Sam Samuel, Chairman, Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, Mr.M.P.Vinobha, Educational Advisor, Mr.Rajeev Chauhan, Principal, ISM, Mr. Deepak Patankar , Principal, Indian School Salalah, other Principals from various Indian Schools in Oman, resource persons from CBSE schools from India for the capacity building programme  were the dignitaries who attended the inaugural ceremony.

Dr. Baby Sam Samuel, Chairman, BOD, in his address stressed on the crucial need of continual training and learning for teachers. The teachers must transform from being mere instructors to true mentors. The training programme was conducted on the five topics- Digital essentials in Education, Question paper setting, Teaching in multicultural environment,  Classroom management and Inclusive education.

Digital essentials in Education session was taken by Ms. Jyothi Gupta, Principal, Delhi Public School, Ghaziabad and Dr. C.B.Mishra, Principal, Presidium school Delhi. .The various topics discussed were administrative efficiency through digital technology, academic efficiency through digital technology and digital infrastructure in school.  Digital life skills needed by today’s children were discussed. Teachers were made aware of Edmodo, Sway, OneDrive, Kahoot , Survey monkey, Flip grid, socrative.com, plickers etc.

Session on Question paper setting by Ms. Neha Sharma, Principal, Delhi Public School, Gwalior began with an Autograph Bingo through which each participant got to know each other. The resource person explained the assessment of learning, assessment for learning and assessment as learning. The afternoon session by the resource person Dr. Shwetha Singh, Joint Secretary, Academics, CBSE, explained on the types of assessment. She enlightened the teachers on how a good test item should be.

Session on Teaching in Multicultural environment by Dr. Shwetha Singh, Joint Secretary, Academics, CBSE started with brainstorming session on definition of culture.  The situation of teachers who face multiculturalism in their classes, their challenges and constraints with cultural integration and differentiation of children were discussed. Dr Ameeta Mulla Wattal, Principal, Spring Dales school in the noon session insisted that teachers must strive to understand their students in a holistic way.

Session on Class room management commenced with interesting activities for teachers followed by discussions on classroom management. The Pre-lunch sessions by the resource person Dr. Indu Kheterpal, Principal, Salwan public school Delhi mainly focussed on the various components of effective classroom management and conduct management. The Post-lunch session by the resource person Dr.Sudha Acharya,Principal, ITL public school, Delhi included explanation of different tips and techniques that educators need to adopt for effective classroom management.

Session on Inclusive education was conducted by Dr Sandeep Kumar Jain, Deputy Secretary, Academic, CBSE and Dr. Sudha Acharya,Principal, ITL Public school, Delhi.  During the session, the teachers learnt how to assess the children with learning problems, behaviour modification, how to make  learning material for special needs children and different ways to help children with learning problems. The resource person said that the teachers have to help the special children by understanding the child’s emotional and psychological perspective. The best gift to the children is to educate them with love and compassion.

All the teachers who attended different sessions were given hand outs to have an in depth clarity about the subject. At the end of the session, group photographs were taken along with the respective resource persons.

All the teachers who attended the two day capacity programme had a purposeful and exhilarating learning experience. This initiative of BOD will definitely enhance the knowledge and skills of the teachers and help them to grow as professionals.
